Someone Keeps Getting Older!

I've been a little MIA lately.  What?  With all the Christmas, working, toddler chasing, photography, and editing I feel like I'm forgetting to breathe and I am surely forgetting how to blog.

Annnnnyway....

Addison is 17 months old today!  SEVENTEEN months!

no weight, height etc. stats for the month, I think she's getting taller though.  She sure looks it and those sneaky fingers can reach things on counters that they couldn't before.

Addison is talking up a storm she can say so many new things that I can't even begin to list them anymore.  She asks for "Mo" of everything, "Mo" food at dinner, "Mo" toys to play with, "Mo" things to carry around the house.  She now wants a bite of anything and everything that she sees you eating.  "Bie, Bie"

Mimic's adults like crazy, carries around a purse, "talks" on her cell phone, pretends to type on the computer, pretends to dial the phone or text.  So hilarious to watch her!

Bath time is still her favorite thing ever, say the word and she runs to the tub and says "Bat, Bat" trying to climb in herself fully clothed.  Asking for bubbles the whole time.  She got a new bath toy for Christmas that plays music and blows bubbles the whole time, the child is in LOVE!

We're up to 12 teeth, one molar is just barely peeking through the skin but the rest of them are in (well at least this round of them!)

Still not the worlds best eater but she has days where she eats anything and everything that you put in front of her an other days she will barely take more than a bite before proclaiming shes done.

She loves to read.  Still working on attention span of more than 30 seconds when you read to her unless she's tired then she'll sit through a book.  She loves to grab a book and go off in the corner or in another room and read to herself though, she'll read out loud and follow the words with her fingers.  I'm not sure where she saw someone do it but the other day she grabbed a book with paper pages (not a board book) and kept licking her entire hand to flip pages, too fricken' cute!

So much better at communicating things she wants & needs, not all the way there yet but less tantrums when someone can't figure out what she wants.  Still a pretty happy, silly kid!

Christmas Survey

I saw a few other bloggers doing this so I had to join in on the fun!

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate. Egg nog is just yuck.

2Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa really hasn't gotten his start in this house yet, but when I was a kid Santa never wrapped anything, I'm pretty sure it will stay that way.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? White looks pretty but I like colors!

4. Do you hang mistletoe? Nope.

5. When do you put your decorations up? The day after thanksgiving I bust out the boxes, but the tree usually comes later as we get real.  This year we got  a potted one that we can plant!

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? yams, or stuffing!

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? My most memorable things about the holidays were always just spending time with my cousins goofing off at my family Christmas party.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I don't remember for sure I know I was elementary aged probably around 8 or so when kids at school started talking about it.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?  Yep, we actually do our big family party every year on Christmas eve

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? We have bright colored led lights, and a crazy collection of ornaments from back when I was a kid, one for every year.  They don't all make it onto the tree every year but its a mismatched collection anyway.  We have yearly engraved silver or pewter ornaments that we have gotten since we started dating or now we started getting the clay ones personalized also.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I could care less if its there or not unless I have to drive in the crap!

12. Can you ice skate? I love to though I am way out of  practice, I did bust them out last year for the trip around the pond a few times.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I don't know of anything that is the best thing I ever got kind of gift, I'm horrible at remembering those things!

14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you? Family and traditions.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Christmas candies, peppermints, peanut brittle, buckeyes, yum, yum, yum.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? I love just spending time with my family, I'm excited to see Addison get into the whole gift thing this year, last year she was just a little to small.  I like to surprise people with their gifts that they didn't expect to get!

17. What tops your tree? A star.

18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? Give.

19. Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum? I like them, but I don't like to have them very often.

20. Favorite Christmas show? Movie? The cartoon grinch, or Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

21. Saddest Christmas Song?  That damn christmas shoes song.

22. What is your favorite Christmas song? I love "at Christmas" the hanson version...it's a lingering addiction from my teen years :)

and of course John Lennon - Happy Xmas (War is Over)

More Secret Santas

There have been more incidents like the one I shared the other day, today right here in my home town.  Seriously makes me smile, it's what all this holiday is really all about.  More K-Mart layawayers will be happy this year!

In other news, it's been a while since I've sat down and updated about my life, getting mighty boring around here.  So for the past 2 weeks I've been dealing with some major ear annoyances.  I finally went to the doctor after it started causing more than just noise and pressure and lead to migraines and lightheadedness.  Turns out I have fluid build up and my ears aren't draining like they should be for some reason.  They gave me a weeks worth of steroids to hope that helps remove the swelling and let them drain.  Otherwise she left me with "sometimes even adults have to get tubes in their ears"  Say what?!?  I haven't had a history of this or anything nothing like scaring me with that!  So on day 3 of steroids and not seeing any improvement, in fact I took a sick day from work today as they really tend to bother me at work and its seeming worse not better today.  ugh.  I just want to not hear the sounds and feel the pressure.  It's the hardest thing to describe because it is not a crackling sound or a ringing but like when you yawn really big and can feel/hear muscle movement?  Like that almost constantly but it comes and goes for minutes at a time.  It's mostly making me crazy.

Enough on ears.  We went to the Lions game in Detroit yesterday with my brother, his g/f her siblings and my step mom.  (these were tickets to a game they had purchased back in June to take my dad to).  It was nice to get to go (cause I didn't know until Friday that I had a ticket) and do the cheering for my dad.  Which anyone who knew him knows he would have been screaming for that nail biter of a game ending.  But the Lion's won and it was a good time!

Not much else by way of updates, still have Christmas shopping to do, I might be half way done if I'm lucky. :)  Christmas parties start this next weekend so I have to get finished this week.  Probably Friday night :) haha!

Holiday Cheer

A little holiday spirit to share

I love hearing stories like this, warms my heart.  Glad to know that there are still people who are more fortunate out there willing to help out strangers in the spirit of Christmas!

16 Months

Ok I'm a little slow, bare with me I've been swamped lately!  But, baby girl turned 16 months old this past week!  How does this keep happening that it sneaks right up on me and a whole month has gone by?

Stats:
Height 30 1/2 inches
Weight 21.15lbs
(She's still a tiny peanut)
She has 9 teeth, 4 top front, 4 bottom front and 1 molar sneaked (ok it didn't sneak at all, there was lots of screaming.) through this month.

this is the I hate snow face

Talking like crazy repeating most things that you ask her to say, new ones are shoes, socks, boots, more, cup, thank you, choo choo, santa.  Just to name a few that I can think of off the top of my head, there are so many though.
momma needs to get some baby mittens, for now she borrowed mine

She knows where her head, hair, feet, ears and my nose are.  She knows when its bed time that she get milk,  feeds the kittys, get's her nightlight and turns it on herself.  She knows when anyone looks like they are getting ready to leave the house that she should go with them and tries to get her coat.  She has picked up on so much lately its amazing how quick she gets things.  All things but, NO that is.

She's as friendly as ever and is unfazed by new people or strangers.  Seriously this kid loves everyone!  she's a happy little girl, until its nap time and you try to let her play in snow for the first time of the year.  I love this silly kid.
