12 month stats & Cake video!

My baby is One!  She did great at her party.  We had a great turn out and a beautifully HOT July day for the celebration.  Photo's to follow when Seth gets them to me as I didn't have the time to take photos myself.



But for now  1 year stats!

Height: who knows?!  We finally have another doctors appointment this month to figure all these things out!

Walking like a pro & into everything!

Also weaned off of bottles (actually was basically weaned from them at 11 months) all sippy cups and straws for this baby girl.

Says: Doggy, Kitty, Momma, Dada, bubbles, mine, yum, bye-bye, night-night and other things that I am unsure what she's trying to tell me :)
Wearing a size 3 diaper, and finally properly fitting into size 12 month clothing.  Still in a size 2 shoe, if you can keep them on her feet.

Addison is such a good kid, only cranky when she needs a nap or shes hungry and even then she could be far worse than she is.  She loves attention from anyone and everyone she continues to not be one bit shy.  She has a little more separation anxiety from mom but nothing horrible.  Mostly she just notices when I leave a room or when I walk into a room she instantly wants me to hold her.  She has been so much fun lately.  I can tell she's starting to 'get' so many things all the time lately.  She's been fascinated with the magnets on the fridge and the dishwasher lately, also more into her toys for longer periods of time and trying to "share" everything with you.  I still can't believe we have a 1 yr old!

How is this even possible?!!  In serious party prep mode this morning, just had to take a quick second to post.  I can't believe she's growing up so much already!  Here's to hoping that she rips into her cupcakes later! :)  Happy Birthday my sweet little girl. We Love You!

One Year Ago Today, The Due Date Edition

July 29th, 2010, My due date.  I had a morning appointment with my doctor who told me I was dilated to about a one, and he didn't think she was ready to go anywhere just yet.  Then on my way out the door he proclaims that if I haven't had her by Monday then he was going to induce me.



No, really, WHAT!?!?!  Yeah, no medical reason, just the thing to do now days I guess...I am TOTALLY terrified of being induced, everyone tells me its horrible, it was not in my plan, and there is no reason for it.  I left more determined than ever to get this baby out!  I probably gorged myself on 2 pineapples that day after I got home.  I read somewhere that they help somehow, so I figured if I over did it they would really help.  After that I took my VERY pregnant self:

 and we went for a 5 mile walk.  In July.  It was 85 degrees. I was 9 months pregnant.  I was exhausted at the end of the day and not feeling 'right'.  I went to bed early figuring I was just tired and feeling a little depressed about not having a baby yet.  I must have woke up 3-4 times having a hard time getting comfortable, around 4am I started feeling like I had stomach cramps, but after lying there for a little bit I realized it must be contractions!  And then This went down!

Buh-Bye Pump Closet!

It's over.  I've sat in my little closet sized room with my uncomfortable chair, that takes up 1/2 the room, and pumped my last bottle of breast milk for Addison.

chair that blocks the door from opening more than 1/2 way, most women who use this room think its impossible to roll it away from the door when they are finished....from the number of times it was blocked I'd assume it was impossible at least.

 It's an amazing feeling to be done, bittersweet to say the least.  I was ready for the pumping to be over, we all know that, but sad that she will need me yet a little less. But I will not miss taking an hour out of my busy enough work schedule every day for two pumping session sitting in the isolation closet!  Now comes the journey of weaning.

Planning, planning, planning, stressing, cleaning, preparing for a big party here at the house.  Preparing for my little baby to turn ONE.  Its less than a week away.  Wondering where in the world a whole years worth of time has gone.  Wondering how its possible for my little tiny bundle of baby to have gone from this:

Unbelievable!  So until the day happens plan on hearing me ramble on about how impossible it is for it to have been a whole year since I gave birth to this adorable child.  Babble about all things birthday party ideas seen here on my  Pinterest Planning Board , and in general try to convince myself that I now have an official toddler and she's no longer a baby!

One Year Ago Today, 39 weeks edition

One year ago today I was 39 weeks pregnant and ready as ever for that nearing July 29th due date!  Lucky for me the week before my due date last year did not include the 99 degree day we had today with 111 degree heat index!  I would not have survived that.  wowie its been warm, thank god for my mom's pool, which I also took great advantage of last summer!  

I can't believe its been a whole year since these pictures...seriously how do 365 days go by so quickly and how can one baby change so much?  From a little peanut in my belly to a walking, talking, silly, lovey, destructive little monster?

120+ birthday wishes thus far....Social media, you sure know how to make a girl feel special.  My phone was blowing up with alerts all day!

But its a scorcher outside so I think Addison and I are off  to find some water!

Salvaged Garage Sale Freebie

A few months back I mentioned that I found a nice sized free frame at a garage sale.  Me being me forgot to take a before picture but lets just say it was an ugly gold (like the normal old frame color) with this gem of a photo inside:

A true gem I tell you.  But the wonderful thing was the freeness of it all.  I had big plans for this one, I was going to make it the focal point of my new collage wall in my dining room.  Unfortunately, its been a slow moving process, my time is consumed with obsessing over Addison's first birthday party planning (rightfully so).  But I finished it a few weeks ago (just this particular frame, not the collage wall) and haven't had the chance to share yet.  

On to the project!  I started by wiping down the frame with some rubbing alcohol both to clean the dust off and any grease that may have been hiding in that shiny gold.  I then applied a nice coat of primer before turning the whole thing a pretty Valspar Cool Jade (teal).  I just love this Valspar spray paint, I'm now hooked.

I love the color but decided I wanted a distressed look and to tone it down a little bit.  Being the impatient person that I am I grabbed the first bottle of whatever I could find to use to distress it.  What I found was about a 50 year old bottle of walnut stain, left in the house I'm sure from my great grandfather when he lived here!  I also found a sanding pad and sanded the edges and roughed up a couple of places before I liberally applied the stain.  I let it sit for about 2 minutes before I started trying to wipe it off.  Well, let me just say, 50 year old stain that has been exposed to heat and cold is incredibly sticky and all it was doing is leaving behind fibers and finger prints.hmmm.  So I decided just to set it out in the sun and let the stain dry to the frame.  Lucky for me, it worked like I had planned to do it that way all along and I was left with a frame that looked like this:

OMG, Love.  So happy with how it turned out, could do without the little fibers stuck to it but when not in macro on the camera they can't be seen.

Meanwhile I made a run to Jo-Ann's and with the help of my best friend we picked out a fabric that goes perfectly with the teal of the frame and the brown of my wall.  I covered up that hotness of a picture that came in the frame with 2 layers of quit batting and then covered it with my chosen fabric, I just used my handy hot glue gun to keep it all in place.  Next I took my re purposed chicken wire from my friends old rabbit hutch and stapled it the back on the inside of my frame, then attached the fabric covered photo back in its home. Now we have a awesome collage frame that I can clip whatever I want in place and easily change out/move things.

What am I using as clips?  Well while I was at Jo-Ann's I found the mini clothes pins that I quickly sprayed with my Valspar to match the frames to use to hold my photos, invites, etc in place.  Easy project, not sure why it took over a month! :)  I am in love with it and I can't wait to get some more inspiration for items to put in the frames that I want to surround this frame with.
