It's been a really, really, really long time since I've participated.  I'm back!

Sunday Scavenger Hunt

I always have big ideas for these photo prompts on Sunday when the new ones are posted but by the time the weekend rolls around I find myself rushing around to take some pictures that fit.  I really wanted to remember to take my camera with me and photograph one of the old abandoned decaying houses around here but alas, it did not happen.  So without further ado, here are this weeks:

1. Decay (old/abandoned)

I have posted a different picture of the same structure before for scavenger hunt.  This is what remains of the big red barn that used to be on our property.  They knocked down the barn years ago when I was a kid because it was starting to fall but my great grandfather insisted they not bury the old milk house.  So this is what remains of a big red barn that once was...a dilapidated old stone milk house, which I love. 

2.Groups of Three

I had nothing for this, then I started looking around the house for 3's of things.  The only thing I could come up with was this.  I don't collect too many things but one of the things I do collect are limited edition cans/bottles. My favorite are the Mountain Dew ones...cause I love Mountain Dew.  These 3 are my favorite of the 25 or so that I have.  

3. Kitchen

What my shabby old farm house kitchen lacks is counter space, what your looking at is it.  Less than 3 feet of counter...fun.  What it is lacking in counter space it makes up in cabinet space, floor to 10 foot ceiling cabinets, and what I got in the picture isn't even all of them.   Ya win some ya lose some! 

4.Things That Make You Go Hmmm...

Another find in this old house, when I first saw this I thought what the Hell is that?  Upon closer inspection...That my friends under the age of oh 80 is a walker.  A walker for a baby. A baby.  They actually put a child into that contraption, and my grandfather is living proof that they make it back out alive.  There are exposed springs and the whole thing is made of metal and wood.  Kids really are tougher than todays paranoia would lead you to believe.  

And here's the little wheels that it operated on!

5. Me Time

This is one thing I find myself in a constant battle for its hard to explain sometimes the need for 15 mins of time to yourself to do something, anything, without the concern about what someone else is doing, needs, wants etc.  Between work and family life I find few moments to myself.  Most of my alone time is spent Mon- Fri in my car for 20 mins driving down I-94...which for anyone who does that you know I-94 is no picnic and in no way should be counted as peaceful and relaxing.  Even with good tunes and the stereo cranked it is never fun at 3:00 in the afternoon.  Instead my ideal me time is relaxing in front of the tv with a good book/gossip magazine and something good to drink!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

1.Camera Phone

Taken yesterday at our family BBQ get together, Addison already trying to steal cigarettes from Grandpa when he's not looking.  We had the first BBQ of 2011 yesterday at my Uncle Jimmy & his Fiancée Dawn's house.  Jimmy was diagnosed with cancer about 18 months ago and at this point he is terminal, he is receiving hospice care in his home, they estimate him to have less than week's left.  It is incredibly hard to watch someone you love waste away and sad to think that yesterday was probably the last time I will see him.   

2. Camera

I like to call this "Let Me Help You Momma".  

3. Shoes

These would be my favorite pair of black pumps, I never wear them, I rarely wear anything but tennis shoes these days.  You're going to catch me vacuuming in them.

4. Chair

I found this old children's wooden rocking chair when cleaning out the upstairs storage room in the house, it's a little wobbly with its loose nails and needs a bit of cleaning up possibly a coat of paint and it will be the perfect chair for Little Miss Thang.  Her Great Grandpa probably used it as a child!  

5. Imperfection

This is Addison's work in progress of a bedroom, its not perfect by any means.  For a couple of first time demo/remodeling Do-It-Yourselfers it is so much better, so far, than we had thought it was going to turn out.  Sure the drywall isn't perfect, the door will never be straight, and the floors will not be perfect but its perfect for us and we are beyond proud of what we have done!  

Sunday Scavenger Hunt

This week felt cram packed, hence the lack of blogging.  I did manage to snap my pictures though!  We are starting this week off with a major effort to work on finishing Addison's bedroom...entire post to come on that since I didn't blog back when we started demo.  But goal is to finish by the time it starts warming up so she can move to her own room. Oh what an event that shall be.  Anyway hope you are having a great weekend and ON with the pictures.

we got to try spaghetti for the first time this week, it was a messy, messy hit!

3. Under

This is Little Puss'  new favorite sleeping place, under Addison's floor gym that she no longer plays with.

4. Welcome to the Jungle

Addison's favorite noisy toy.  I think I know the song by heart "Waddle like a penguin, Stretch up tall like a giraffe, dance like a monkey and Laugh, Laugh, Laugh"

5. Calm

My morning moment of calm....oh how I love you, cup of coffee!

I apparently like the vertical orientation of the camera this week for some reason....

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

1. Chocolate: 

 Tell me you didn't eat a whole bag of Dove Valentine hearts this past week too?  Just me?

2. Numbers:

I am all too familiar with this number dial 

3. Canned Food:

 This would be this past summers first adventure in canning, homemade tomato sauce & homemade applesauce.  Excited to try more things this next garden harvesting season!

4. Music:

Our little ipod dock on the RCA stereo that Tony got for his birthday is wonderful!  

Even better that I stole it and keep it in the kitchen!

5. Stack:

I am in love with these little Cuties.  

As in, I have eaten an entire 5lb box and am tempted to go back and get more while they are still 'in season'.  YUM!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

1. Water

I took this because we are selling our 75 gallon fish tank along with its lone inhabiter Mr.Oscar.  I love that it caught the tiny bubbles that his fins made in the water as he made fishy faces at me through the glass. 

2. Quote

Winter is horrible, cold (horrible), windy (horrible), wet (horrible) but oh so beautiful at times!

3. Window

This was an accidental picture taken out the front door way of my house, I just wanted a quick shot of the snow coming down and coating everything in its path.  The window's and the old stone milk house are all that remains of the big red barn that used to be.

4. Activity

a group of our friends cleared off a frozen pond perfect for a cold day of ice hockey.

5. Page 25 of a Magazine

Taste of Home, And now I want some spaghetti, why are carbs so horrible again?  Because they taste so delicious!
